£25,000 Pyramid (OUR LIBRARY) Appeal

While we continue to run our Volunteer Library from the shop premises at 428 High Road Wembley (near Argos) our ambition remains to get back to the original library building in Barham Park.

The current Labour Administration running Brent closed our library, and the other 5, on 13 October 2011 and the building has remained empty and abandoned ever since.

The Council seems determined to stop community uses. They have decided to rent the building out on “commercial terms” and are asking rent of £14,000 + service charges. We estimate that with rent, service charges, business rates, insurance and utility costs we would need around £25,000 a year to run a library from the building.

While we are applying for grants to other charitable bodies we have also launched a £25,000 Pyramid appeal asking local businesses and individuals to donate in ‘pyramid’ building blocks of between £25 and £500.

If you can help please use the Gift Aid form on the ‘get involved’ page and support our fundraising effort. Please ask others (individuals, organisations or businesses) to help too.

Getting back OUR LIBRARY is still a cause worth supporting.

THANK YOU

Paul Lorber
