Paul Lorber says THANK YOU to everyone who sponsored him for his 60km run in celebration of the 60th anniversary of opening of Barham Library.
The Library in Barham Park was opened on 31 May 1952 and sadly closed by Labour Councillors in Brent on 11 October 2011. Our Campaign to get it opened continues and in the meantime we continue to run a very successful Volunteer Library from premises at Barham Primary School.
Paul run the 60km in 5 sessions over 8 days with the help of Ironman competitor Peter Corcoran completing on 5 June 2012 in Barham Park . Together with our stall at the Diamond Jubilee event in Barham Park organised by STRA we raised over £500 – enough to pay for premises hire and other costs of our Volunteer Library between 21 April and 29 July 2012.
The Barham Volunteer Library now has a massive collection of books for children and young people following a large donation from Healthy Planet charity.
The Barham Volunteer Library will be open on Saturday 9 June 2012 between 11a.m and 2p.m. as usual in the old nursery at Barham Primary School, Danethorpe Road, Wembley HA0 4RQ.
If coming by bus you can use the Chaplin Road entrance (opposite Wembley Hospital) or the main entrance from Danethorpe Road. As it is Wembley Event Day parking restrictions apply in surrounding streets so please park in the school car park.
Paul Lorber (helped by Ironman competitor Peter Corcoran) completed his 60km run in aid of Friends of Barham Library during the STRA Diamond Jubilee Celebration in Barham Park on Tuesday 5 June.
Friends of Barham Library also organised a very well supported book stall on the day and unveiled their new banner.
Barham Library was opened on 31 May 1952. Friends of Barham Library celebrated the 60th anniversary on 31 May 2012 by decorating the now closed Library and leaving ‘Happy Birthday’. wishes.
